About APi Sound and Visual

APi Sound and Visual specialise in the design and installation of projection, display and sound systems.

APi Sound and Visual specialise in the design and installation of projection, display and sound systems; with many years experience in providing solutions for business, health services, education, visitor attractions and places of worship.

Founded in 2003 by Andy Pidsley, who had a vision for a company that would provide great technological solutions suited to customer needs, with audio visual systems that would be easy to use, reliable and equipment appropriate to the task.

This is encapsulated in our strap line ‘making technology work for people’.

In addition, we also pride ourselves in being able to create solutions to problems, where there may not be an off the shelf solution - for example, enabling a new and existing system to communicate.

We will not sacrifice reliability or compromise on "ease of use" just to win an order.

With great customer understanding and service, we offer a comprehensive before and after-sales service.

The company continues to grow, including a move to larger offices in 2012.  However, we still very much offer the personal touch and all our staff are committed to providing our clients with a professional, yet friendly approach.

Our Work

APi Sound and Visual specialise in the design and installation of projection, display and sound systems, as well as being expert installers of induction loop systems.

We have many years experience in providing solutions for business, village halls, education, visitor attractions and places of worship.

In addition, we pride ourselves in being able to create solutions to problems, where there may not be an off-the-shelf solution – for example, enabling a new and existing system to communicate.

Our starting point is always the end user, to ensure that any system is designed to be easy to use.  We are not tied to one manufacturer and indeed have good relationships with many manufacturers and suppliers, enabling us to use equipment most appropriate for the task. We will not sacrifice reliability or compromise the “ease of use” just to win an order.

Upon installation a thorough handover takes place with training and there is a full after-sales support, making APi Sound and Visual the ideal choice for all your audio visual needs.

From initial enquiry, through quotation, installation, training and after-sales support APi Sound and Visual will provide an excellent service to our customers.

Our People

APi is proud of its team and the skills and expertise that everyone brings. Many of our team are long serving staff members and collectively, their knowledge, skills and experience enable APi to provide a great customer service from initial contact, survey, quote, installation, training and aftercare.
Most of our engineers have been actively involved in church sound since their teens and some are also in church leadership positions.
It is always nice to put a face to a name, so here are our team members:

Andy Pidsley

Managing Director
Andy has a lifetime of interest in electronics, which started by taking many things apart as a child!

He is a full member of the Institute of Sound and Communications Engineers (MInstSCE), and is an Associate member of the Institute of Acoustics (IOA). He holds further qualifications in Acoustics and building acoustic measurement from the IOA. Andy has been involved in operating church sound equipment for over 40 years, and started APi Sound & Visual in 2003 after 14 years in the AV industry.

He is married to Bryoni, has three children and is involved in leading worship in his local church where he gets to experience being on the other end of the sound system. At other times he can be found on the water or thinking about it.

Bryoni Pidsley

Financial Director
Bryoni has a real handle on the business and its development.

She has general oversight of finances of the company and with a background in database software is often creating or producing spreadsheets for the business.

Bryoni is the wife of the MD and and mum to three children. When she gets the time, she enjoys sewing, playing the violin and piano; as well as spending relaxing times on the water with Andy.

Andrew Dunn

Senior Project Engineer
Andrew has a reputation for never failing to come up with a solution to any technical problem!

Andrew started young, as at 14, he was running charity discos for his school. Upon leaving he qualified with a BTEC in Electronics and joined a small specialist firm designing and building bespoke electronics. Subsequently he worked for a fire alarm company, building, testing and commissioning fire alarm panels and systems, rising to become their I.T. Manager.

He joined APi Sound & Visual in 2009 where he demonstrates his vast knowledge of both computer hardware and software. He is a devoted father to his two sons and occupies his spare time practising music within worship and studying software problems.

Jim Weeks

Sound & Visual Technician
Jim’s interest in all things technical began when he studied electronics at high school in California.

He worked for BT (then Post Office Telecommunications) as a Technical Officer on large business systems for 20 years. Then joining Stage Electrics as Service/Technical Manager until running his own AV commissioning and programming business.

Having worked alongside APi on a number of projects over the years he is very happy to now be a full time member of the team.

Stephen Neath

Sound & Visual Technician
Stephen’s passion for everything to do with sound began when he was young - whether that be behind a drum kit, piano or sound desk.

Prior to joining APi, Stephen was running a small installation company which had been set up by his Dad, specialising in church sound and hearing loop systems. This helped him understand everything that is involved in installations, from site visits to final fix.

In Stephen’s spare time he likes to play tennis or practice drums to relax. Since relocating from Stratford-Upon-Avon, he is loving the different opportunities living in Exeter presents.

Robin Hobbs

Accounts Officer
With an eye for detail and a great deal of accounts experience Robin is the ideal person to oversee the day to day finances.

She also provides great customer service and it is often Robin who you will speak to when you call us.

Her fantastic organisational skills mean she can always find the information that any member of the team seeks.

During her career, Robin has also been a childminder and worked in a preschool (some would say useful skills for working with the APi team!)

Outside of APi Robin can be found watching rugby or working on her allotment.
