Making technology work for people

APi Sound and Visual are specialists in the design, installation and maintenance of bespoke, high-quality audio-visual systems. We often visit buildings where the audio-visual equipment has been installed without thinking about the people who will be operating it on a weekly or daily basis. It is our mission to make AV simple; we listen to your needs and produce a system in which the technology works for you, in the way that you want it to.

Our sound, projection, live streaming, hearing loop and CCTV systems are crafted to work for you, often with solutions that draw upon the decades of technical experience within our sales and engineering team.

All of our staff are committed to providing our clients with a professional, yet friendly approach. We work closely with our customers to ensure that their expectations are met and that they are informed every step of the way. We offer a comprehensive before and after-sales service, with team members available in the office daily to help with any questions or concerns.

Our people

Any successful business is only the sum of the hard work of a dedicated and experienced team, passionate about our customers and the work we do. We are proud of our team who listen to your requirements and respect the buildings they are working in to produce a high-quality system which works for you.

Many members of our staff have been with us for a long time, and collectively their skills, knowledge and experience enable APi to provide great customer service throughout the project journey, from initial enquiry right through to aftercare. It is always nice to put a face to a name, so here are our team members:

Andy Pidsley

Founder and Director

Andy is a full member of the Institute of Sound and Communications Engineers (MInstSCE), and is an Associate member of the Institute of Acoustics (IOA).

He holds further qualifications in Acoustics and building acoustic measurement from the IOA. Andy has been involved in operating church sound equipment for over 40 years, and started APi Sound & Visual in 2003 after 14 years in the AV industry.

He is married to Bryoni, has three children and is involved in leading worship in his local church where he gets to experience being on the other end of the sound system. At other times he can be found on the water or thinking about it.

He has taken a step back from the business recently to allow Stephen to take on the main leadership role, but he is still involved and enjoys getting out on-site when an extra pair of hands is required.

Bryoni Pidsley

Financial Director

Bryoni has a real handle on the business and its development and has supported Andy in growing the business to what it is today.

She has general oversight of finances of the company and with a background in database software is often creating or producing spreadsheets for the business.

Bryoni has a passion for the violin and plays in a local string orchestra, as well as playing piano at home. She enjoys getting out for walks with Andy and spending time with their three children.

Stephen Neath

Sales Director

Prior to joining APi, Stephen was running a small installation company which had been set up by his Dad, specialising in church sound and hearing loop systems. This helped him understand everything that is involved in installations, from site visits to final fix.

Since joining APi in September 2021 as a trainee engineer, he has gained experience and risen up under Andy’s mentorship to become a director and the person leading the business day-to-day. He is enjoying the challenges that being a leader presents and also enjoys getting out and meeting customers.

In Stephen’s spare time, he likes to play tennis at a local tennis club, or can be found behind a drum kit or other percussion instrument playing for several local groups.

Andrew Dunn

Senior Project Engineer

Andrew has a reputation for never failing to come up with a solution to any technical problem!

Andrew started young, as at 14, he was running charity discos for his school. Upon leaving he qualified with a BTEC in Electronics and joined a small specialist firm designing and building bespoke electronics. Subsequently, he worked for a fire alarm company, building, testing and commissioning fire alarm panels and systems, rising to become their I.T. Manager.

He joined APi Sound & Visual in 2009 and demonstrates his vast knowledge of both computer hardware and software on a daily basis, being the brains behind many of our custom solutions. He is a devoted father to his two sons and occupies his spare time practising music within worship and creating custom designs with his 3D laser engraver.

Jim Weeks

Sound and Visual Engineer

Jim’s interest in all things technical began when he studied electronics at high school in California.

He worked for BT (then Post Office Telecommunications) as a Technical Officer on large business systems for 20 years. Then joining Stage Electrics as a Service/Technical Manager until running his own AV commissioning and programming business.

Having worked alongside APi on several projects over the years, he joined APi in mid-2021 and has become a crucial part of the engineering team, with his experience and sense of humour shining through.

Robin Hobbs

Accounts Officer

With an eye for detail and a great deal of accounts experience Robin is the ideal person to oversee the day-to-day finances.

She also provides great customer service and it is often Robin who will answer the phone when you ring.

Her fantastic organisational skills mean she can always find the information that any member of the team seeks. During her career, Robin has also been a childminder and worked in a preschool (some would say useful skills for working with the APi team!)

Outside of APi Robin can be found watching rugby at the Exeter Chiefs, and has a poster of one of the players on the noticeboard behind her desk in case she needs some motivation. She is a loved member of the team as she is a great listener and has a brilliant sense of humour.

Matt Wyatt

Project Sales Engineer

Matt has actually been at APi on three separate occasions, but this time he has promised that he is going to stay, so we’ll hold him to that.

He started out his career at ITV as a broadcast engineer, where he was at the forefront of broadcast technology and thrived on the high-pressure environment and the need to get everything perfect.

One of Matt’s main talents is listening to the customer so that he can design a system which suits their requirements, and will go above and beyond to make sure that everything is should be once the equipment has been installed. He is a very popular member of the team and brings an excited energy that helps keep everyone looking forward.

In his spare time, Matt enjoys going to see concerts or walking his dog, Digby.

Mikaela Lashbrook

Sales Support Administrator

Mikaela has been with APi since the end of 2021 and has been part of the engine room that has kept things running smoothly, from refining our CRM software to booking installations and ensuring that customer enquiries are responded to in a timely manner.

She has been able to work with the wider team to refine and develop processes which have helped the business become more efficient and her organisational skills have been invaluable during busy periods.

Mikaela is a big coffee fan and loves the fact that we have a professional coffee machine in the office. In her spare time, she enjoys going for walks in the outdoors and spending time with friends.

Toby Jones

Trainee Engineer and Marketing Assistant

Toby joined the team at the beginning of the summer of 2024 and immediately showed that he is a fantastic addition to the team, helping get a large project over the line, which would not have been possible without him.

Toby has a brilliant sense of humour and has brought a youthful energy to the team which has given a boost to the engineering team. He has an eye for detail and has taken on the role of marketing assistant to help Stephen create digital content, which he really enjoys. He won’t admit it, but one of his favourite parts of the job is when he has to climb into loft spaces to pull cables, especially when it’s hot weather!

He is looking forward to learning more about everything we do and has already shown the rest of the team that he will be a key member of the team in a few years.

Josiah Dunn

Content Creation Apprentice and Trainee Engineer

Josiah started as an apprentice with us at the beginning of 2025, after spending a couple of months working with us to get some work experience. He is enrolled on an exciting content creation course with Middlesborough college which will give him experience in running marketing campaigns and producing all forms of marketing material, which will be a real help to APi.

When he is not at work, Josiah is a keen footballer and plays for a local team. But, when the weather is not conducive to football, he likes to spend time playing video games or watching other sports, such as rugby and sometimes ice hockey.

He has had an interest in technology since he was a child so is excited to get stuck in and learn more about the products and skills that we use regularly to complete our bespoke installations.

Finally, if you haven’t noticed the similarity or the same last names, Josiah is Andrew’s son!
